Thin card case (billfold)[Mottainai Market] Hitoe® Quartet - Liscio - 4-Card Capacity
Vacchetta leather with a deepening sheen
Hitoe® Quartet - Liscio - (4-card version)
The current Hitoe® Quartet - Liscio - model can hold up to 8 cards.
However, during its development, we actually prepared a 4-card version right up to its launch, but then changed the specifications to 8 cards and cancelled the sale of the 4-card version. We are now selling those original products.
While the current model is designed to hold two cards in each pocket, this 4-card version is designed for one card per pocket. (The card pockets may feel a bit tight even with one card initially.)
For those who prefer to store their important cards individually, this specification is actually more suitable.
Thin Card Case (Billfold)
A bifold wallet without a coin pocket is called a "billfold" (satsuire in Japanese).
This billfold remains thin even when storing four cards in its four pockets.

About Liscio Leather
Smooth and Refined Vacchetta Leather
Vacchetta leather has been handed down in the Tuscany region of Italy since the early 9th century.
Its surface is smooth and fine-grained, with an elegant and rich character that deepens in color and gloss as it ages with use.
Thin even when full
The "Hitoe® (single) structure" allows the four card pockets to avoid overlapping, achieving a thin profile.
・Thickness of 8.5mm when storing 4 cards and 10 banknotes
・Size 120 x 94mm
It can store a maximum of 4 cards, one in each card pocket.
Minimalist Design
Using stored cards as core material
The Hitoe® Quartet leverages its full card pockets to utilize the stored cards as a core material. This enables its thin design.
When placed in a pocket, the slight curve in the gaps between cards allows it to flexibly conform to your body. The cards themselves are less likely to bend, preventing damage.
Pursuit of Thinness
The edges are finished with "seam allowance" rather than "rolled edges." This is to pursue "thinness." While rolling the edges would make the size smaller, it would increase the leather overlap and make it thicker. This detail is faithful to the ideal we aim for.
Additionally, rolled edges can cause cards to snag on the leather edge, but with seam allowance, it's smooth and snag-free.

Durable and Beautiful for Long-Term Use
Most wallet problems are caused by hardware or stitching. We use no metal hardware. The vulnerable corners and edges are reinforced by layering outer and inner leather for increased durability. Furthermore, no stitching is used in the folded areas subject to friction.
The seam allowance is as small as possible, creating a design that resists losing its shape.
Beautiful Details
Precise and delicate stitching, polished edges (leather cross-section) over dyeing, smooth flesh side (underside of leather), and fine lines (creasing) pressed into the edges with a heated tool. Beauty is pursued in every detail.
Banknotes go in as they are
Banknotes can be stored flat in the large pocket.
A Partner for Hitoe® Fold
The Hitoe® Fold can hold up to 7 cards.
However, if you think, "I have too many cards, the Hitoe® Fold isn't enough..."
Then this Hitoe® Quartet will be your best partner.
With the Hitoe® Quartet and Hitoe® Fold, you can store a maximum of 7+4=11 cards.
Keep receipts, important cards you don't want to overlap, and infrequently used cards in the Hitoe® Quartet in your bag.
Keep your everyday money and cards in the Hitoe® Fold in your pocket.
Usage Precautions
The card pockets do not have gussets. Instead, we use thin, pliable, distressed leather that stretches easily.
Since there is no extra space, it will feel tight at first, but it will quickly soften and conform. Once it's broken in, it will fit perfectly and be comfortable to use.
Also, it is designed to close snugly once the leather has softened, so initially the flap may open slightly even when closed.
Origins
Liscio, Italian for "smooth." Its surface is smooth and fine-grained, with natural color variations and natural marks, giving it a sophisticated and rich leather-like appearance.
Tanning and Manufacturing
"Vacchetta leather" is a traditional Italian leather tanning technique from Tuscany, dating back to the early 9th century. Cowhide is tanned with vegetable tannins extracted from chestnut and mimosa, then slowly infused with oil and finished with dye. The internal oils gradually emerge with use, deepening its color and luster.
LWG (Leather Working Group) environmental certification: Silver rank.
Maintenance
Due to the sufficient oil content, oil treatment is not necessary unless you are concerned about scratches or dryness. For daily care, we recommend wiping with a soft, dry cloth or brushing. For more details, please refer here.

This was my ideal wallet, as I like to carry my coins separately. ___ 181 ___ The requirements I had for a wallet were that it be thin enough not to ruin the silhouette when placed in a jacket pocket, and that the cards wouldn't get scratched from directly touching each other. ___ 182 ___ Therefore, the Hitoe Quartet perfectly met my requirements. ___ 183 ___ However, I haven't needed to carry eight cards recently, so I was hesitant to buy one. This four-card version is perfect for me. ___ 184 ___ This purchase was part of the Mottainai Market initiative, and I'm grateful that they released a four-card version.
