Seeking the Best Leather in France

In the Alsace region of France, 35 kilometers south of Strasbourg, lies Barr, a town surrounded by vineyards. It is in this small town that Tannerie Degermann is located.
The reason we commissioned Tannerie Degermann to produce our new leather was because they are the oldest and finest tannery in France, with a deep commitment to tradition and quality. From the founder, Gustave, to the last director, Nicolas, their passion, values, and techniques have been passed down through generations.
The new leather they specially crafted for SYRINX is not just a material; it holds a special value.

The Beautiful Coastline of Etretat

In the Normandy region of France, the coastline of Etretat is characterized by white limestone cliffs. Bathed in gentle light, this beautiful coastline, with its serene and poetic scenery, has captivated Impressionist artists such as Monet.
Inspired by the symphony of nature, we created a beautiful, deep, and enchanting range of calf leather colors.

Visiting Tannerie Degermann in France

In the autumn of 2022, we visited Tannerie Degermann in France for sample confirmation and meetings.
It is important to meet face-to-face and communicate directly to share our strong commitment to color and to clarify the direction of the new leather. We were deeply impressed by their meticulous production process, the craftsmanship of their skilled artisans, and their historic factory and rich environment.
It took another year to realize our vision, and in the autumn of 2023, Etretat was completed.

Etretat, the Culmination of Degermann's History

Tannerie Degermann, which has walked as the oldest tannery in France, chose to merge with the neighboring company Haas (also founded in the 19th century) due to changing times.
After the production of our leather, the historic Degermann factory will close, and President Nicolas will also retire.
Etretat, Degermann and Mr. Nicolas's final work, is the culmination of their history and techniques.
It is a great honor for our leather to crown such a long history.
Degermann's passion, techniques, and the production of Etretat will be inherited by Haas, aiming for even greater heights, and a new journey is about to begin.
