This is an original calf leather specially ordered from France's oldest tannery.
The Etretat Coastline Bathed in Light
The Etretat coastline in Normandy, France, is characterized by white chalk cliffs made of limestone. Bathed in gentle light, this serene and poetic landscape has captivated artists such as Monet.
It is a SYRINX original calf leather inspired by the symphony of nature found there.
Its most distinctive feature is the nuanced coloring, achieved through a year and a half of repeated adjustments and prototyping.
Even colors that appear close to solid, such as "Limestone" and "Midnight," incorporate subtle gradations based on the profound colors of Etretat.
To France in Search of the Best Original Leather
The tannery we commissioned for our original leather, Tannerie Degermann, is located in Barr, a town surrounded by vineyards, 35 kilometers south of Strasbourg in the Alsace region of France.
We chose Tannerie Degermann to produce our original leather because they are France's oldest and finest tannery, with a deep understanding of tradition and quality.
After many discussions with Tannerie Degermann in France, Etretat was finally completed.
The Final Chapter in Degermann's History
Due to changing times, Tannerie Degermann chose to merge with the neighboring Haas company (also founded in the 19th century). Our leather production will be the last, and the historic Degermann factory is scheduled to close and be renovated into a museum.
Etretat, marking the final chapter in Degermann's history, is a culmination of tradition, passion, and skill. Their craftsmanship and the production of Etretat will be passed on to Haas, aiming for even greater heights.
